Restoring a strong automotive industrial base in France: what can be done, what are the conditions?
France has been the big loser in the evolution of the automotive industry in Europe over the last 20 years. Aware of the social, human, strategic and financial costs of this loss of substance, governments are supporting the national representatives of the industry in a strategy of recovery through non-cost competitiveness and in particular through technological innovation. Can this lever be sufficient? Is the move upmarket that we continue to see among the two manufacturers a protection in the medium to long term?
Between a vital threat and an obvious lifeline, what role will electrification of powertrains play (and what electrification)?
The question of the strategy for industrial recovery involves not only a strategic assessment of developments in the sector, but also a response to its structural handicaps.
