Policies supporting demand for electric vehicles in Europe

Résumé:

The paper describes the current economic policies supporting demand for electric vehicles in the main European countries. After providing a taxonomy for the current support to the purchase of electric vehicles and to the construction of charging points for electric vehicles, the paper discusses the different economic rationale that hide behind different policies. The paper also provides an assessment of the feasibility and the costs of the transition towards full electrification within the deadlines that the European Commission has set.
